Greetings to you all. Before i go any further, i’d like to offer my sincerest apologies, for the lack of fresh content within these pages of late. I’ve been spending so much time concentrating on the Facebook Group, RetroMovieZone ChitChat, and the YouTube channel, simply known as theretromoviezone, that i’ve kind of let things slide a little, here on the website. This blog truly is “my baby”. It’s what kickstarted a dream i’d had for years, of finding my own little corner of the internet, and turning it into my own personal soapbox, where i could talk about movies, and of course engage with likeminded folks like yourselves. So fear not lovely people, very shortly there will be more than enough fresh content for you to check out right here, and once again my sincerest thanks for bearing with me. Onwards and upwards……

So the story goes something like this. We’ve been running a thread on the Facebook group called 50 Years Of Film. We’ve each been putting on just three titles from each year, from 1972 to present day. A member of the group put the movie Freddie Got Fingered as part of his three from that particular year. I’d heard of it but never seen it and knew nothing about it. Now, the group pretty much know i’m not a huge fan of knockabout, violent comedy so they kind of dared me to take a look at this movie, and share with them my thoughts. They then got the idea it would be fun for me to do a video of me watching this movie, to get my reaction to it. I went into this totally blind, knowing next to nothing about it. More fool me. I reckon the only person who got royally fingered  was me. If you care to find out why, take a look at my review on Letterboxd or have a watch of the video on the RetroMovieZone ChitChat Facebook group. I think both sum up my feelings perfectly.

The Facebook group RetroMovieZone ChitChat is going great guns nowadays. We have 128 members so far and have new posts going up every day. We’ve recently been running a thread called 50 Years Of Film which has proved very popular, and we have more threads ready to go. It’s a small but very friendly group, and if you’d care to join us, you will be made more than welcome by the other members. Also feel free to promote your own Facebook movie groups and YouTube channels within the group. Your also welcome to post your movie related, video reviews etc, on there too.

The RetroMovieZone YouTube channel is also doing brilliantly. I currently have 68 subscribers and have recorded well over 100 videos. I upload a fresh one every weekend, and it’s usually a mixture of shout outs to Facebook group members and YouTube channels i think may be of interest to other movie buffs. I also do a round up of what’s been happening on RetroMovieZone ChitChat, movie reviews, news and viewers Top 10 Favourite Movies, amongst other stuff. I’d love to make it to 100 subscribers by the end of this year, if possible, so please pop on over, take a look around, and if you like what you see please “Like” and Subscribe.

I also have a Letterboxd account and i post short reviews of movies i’ve watched as often as i can. Again, please feel free to take a look at some of my reviews, and if you enjoy reading them please hit the “Follow” button. I only have 15 followers at the moment so i could definetely do with a few more.

Ok, so this is my last bit of self promotion for today. I have an Instagram account too which has over 300 posts and nearly 1400 followers. Really proud of this one, as it’s really caught on. Again, i post pretty much every time i watch something, either a movie or a television series. Once again please feel free to take a trip over there, and if you like my posts, please hit the “Follow” button.

I had this movie recommended to me by a colleague at work, who told me it’s a remarkable true story set in the American Civil War. I was impressed by his passion for this movie and i now have the Bluray, which i hope to be able to watch very soon.

This movie, 12 Years a Slave, was also recommended to me, so i thought i might as well grab a Bluray copy of this, while i was in an “Add To Cart” kind of mood. I’ve heard this one is extremely brutal and hard to watch. I’m not a huge fan of graphic violence at the best of times and tend to shy away from overly violent films, but this being an Oscar winner and the recipient of a couple of BAFTA’s, i thought id give it a go. Wish me luck……
