About Me

Hi Everyone And Welcome to RetroMovieZone.

I’ve created this site/blog with one purpose. To review and chat about movies. I’ve always had a passion for films. I love watching them and nothing fires me up more than talking about them. I also know there are many people out there who feel the same, and this is my way of connecting with likeminded souls.

I love to watch new movies but I have to admit that my main passion is the older films. Anything from the 90s backwards, particularly the 60s and 70s. I live in a small town in the UK, Burton on Trent and I spent many happy hours during my younger years in the Burton Odeon cinema watching some of the most amazing and magical films. I remember the first time I saw Alien and being terrified by it, as I was when I saw the original Friday The 13th. I watched hundreds of what I consider to be classics including Dressed To Kill, Breaking Glass, Nine To Five, Sweeney and countless others.

With this site I finally have the opportunity to review and chat about these films with people who also consider them to be classics. I also love to chat about the more obscure and not so well known movies I’ve watched over the years. I’m a huge fan of films like Witchfinder General, The Stud, The Bitch, Deep End, and The Man Who Haunted Himself to name but a few. It’s my dream to bring some of these forgotton classics back from the dead and give them a new lease of life by chatting about them with you guys.

I’ve never done anything like this before so please bear with me while I find my feet. I’m not a professional film critic. I’m not Barry Norman or Mark Kermode. Far from it. I’m a warehouse worker who just loves movies. You won’t hear me talking about cinematography or any of the in depth stuff some critics get into. I just know what I like movie wise and that’s what I’d like to get across.

I think my biggest dream for this site and my reviews is to fire up young people, who won’t have been around when a lot of the movies I talk about were released, to want to see a particular movie based on what I’ve had to say about it. That to me would be the ultimate compliment and an indication that me and the site are moving in the right direction.

I can’t wait for this idea to take flight. I’m so looking forward to hearing from you all about anything movie related. It’s gonna be a lot of fun. Welcome one and all to RetroMovieZone.

Kindest Regards

Tony

I’d also like to offer my sincerest thanks to the Burton Mail for allowing me to use these beautiful old pictures of Burton Odeon on the site. I hope they bring back as many memories for you as they certainly have for me.
